GO LEAN wins 2024 Employer Award

Brunel Professional Mentoring has awarded GO LEAN Ltd with the 2023-24 employer mentoring award. "The trophy, is a 3D printed Isambard Kingdom Brunel sculpture, made by Brunel University London students, it is excellent 👏🏽 - Oliver Buhlinger, CEO.

Brunel Professional Mentoring, now in its 20th year, has made such an impact on students, mentors, businesses, and ultimately the economy and UK manufacturing. 

Oliver is celebrating his tenth anniversary of professional mentoring this year. "I have been blessed to be able to mentor over 50 students, graduates and post-graduates. In my opinion, the battle to get UK manufacturing back into the top ten must be fought on all fronts, and attracting and developing skilled talent into our industry should be one of the top priorities for us all. Are we doing enough as employers, managers or role models to create the right culture that will attract and retain the excellent talent out there, currently considering a career in STEM? I continue to challenge every STEM and manufacturing professional to engage with students, at schools, colleges and universities, to attract more talent and to consider mentoring at least one student every year. I raised this challenge when speaking at The Manufacturer SME Growth Summit in 2023; the response from individuals was good but if employers support employees to engage with such schemes, the impact could be greater? PWC are the 2022-23 winner of this award and have a huge commitment to mentoring 👏🏽. There are several organisations and universities apart from Brunel University London who also run mentoring schemes so there might be one close to you but distance is generally not an issue as remote mentoring is very effective, too".

Brunel Professional Mentoring was established in 2003 by the late Dr. Beverley Crookes, the programme has grown from 6 to 210 matched mentees annually, across various strands, what a legacy…
